Snow

At Steep Rock Preserve earlier this month. And today it hit 60° after being twenty below at the beginning of the week.

Freezing Rain and Fog

Woodbury, Connecticut

About 8:00 this morning, after clearing the driveway before the freezing rain made that task impossible.

The good news is that by noon the temperature had finally moved up near 50° and I tried the darkroom plumbing, which had thawed, and held pressure. Big relief, and in future I'll have to be much more proactive about draining out the pipes whenever the the outdoor temperature is expected to get a long way below freezing.

All Froze Up

Woodbury, Connecticut

Not much snow, but the cold is unrelenting. They've been forecasting rising temperatures all day but it hasn't happened. Stalled at around 17°F since late morning, so I can't even to test whether the frozen darkroom pipes are ruptured or not. I even received some trial sheets of Hahnemuhle Platinum Rag this afternoon, and can't do a thing with them. That, above, is the darkroom/platinum-lab, seen from an upstairs window.

Six AM. Ten Below.

Woodbury, Connecticut

This is not at all amusing. The water to the darkroom sink is blocked and I won't know until there's a thaw whether the pipes are simply frozen or if they've burst. The heat loop that serves the darkroom is overwhelmed and struggling to maintain even 50° in the lab, and clearly we've frozen in the tunnel/crawlspace below.

Winter Rain

Washington, Connecticut

We've finally had snow and temperatures well below freezing the past couple of days. Earlier in the week though we had a long winter rain in southern New England while a large area hundreds of miles to the south was getting snow.

Light rain after an overnight freeze a couple days ago.

Snow

Woodbury, Connecticut

We seem to be having another no big deal snowstorm in western Connecticut. Temperature around freezing, very little accumulation overnight. Supposed to continue into the afternoon, but not coming down hard at all.

Weather

Woodbury, Connecticut

54° F at a litte after six in the morning on February 4, in southern New England, is completely weird! We had rain yesterday, with similar crazy temperatures. At least the winter rain made for some interesting picture possibilities.
