A failed Trump endeavor? ;-)

No, not ersatz-fancy enough. Looked like it was ordinary retail space without big promenades or high-end anchor stores.

The "Malling of America" was the death of downtown retail and commercial activity. Now malls are also failing as American shopping patterns change to shopping on line. Even large brick and mortar stores, like Walmart, are threatened. These trends provide us with abandon buildings to photograph.

Interesting side light is that this place is less eight miles from the studio I kept in Hartford in the mid-eighties, but Rocky Hill was off the beaten path, with no graphic design firms or agencies or other clients, so I never saw this place back when it was in operation.

Despite it's obvious subject matter, this picture also has a very pastoral feel for me, which I find intriguing. It's like a trees in rolling hills look, but it's urban. Cool!

Thanks, David. I think it's partly because while vacant, the grounds are well cared for. There are some cracks in the pavement, but no weeds growing up. The trees are pruned and the patches of grass are mowed. Someone must hold out hope for revival.
